Former Arsenal striker will retire from international duty after the game against rivals

GERMAN fans and players paid tribute to 130-cap striker Lukas Podolski ahead of his final game for his country.

And fans held up a banner reading "130 games, 48 goals, one legend, thank you Lukas".

Podolski started as part of an attacking trio behind debutant Timo Werner which also includes Leroy Sane and Julian Brandt.

Yesterday the veteran, 31, claimed England need to look at Germany and stop changing managers.

Podolski, 31, currently playing for Galatasaray ahead of a summer move to Japan to play for Vissel Kobe, said: “The only thing I can say is  we have had a great coach for over 10 years and the consistency is very important.

“The other difference is that in 2004 German football really changed course and started to develop and it culminated in 2014 with the World Cup.

“England have promising players and they can get far in tournaments — as long as they don’t face Germany."
