De Sousa secured a shock 6-5 win against the world champion to send him home in the second round, with his incredible opening leg checkout proving a sign of things to come.

The Portuguese player, known for his maverick style, required 115 as he approached the oche.

De Sousa opted to go for the bold route of bullseye, 15 and another bullseye.

And he pulled it off in stunning fashion - even getting acknowledgement from Humphries as the pair fist bumped.
