LUKE SHAW is set to be named in Gareth Southgate's squad to face Lithuania and Germany.

The Manchester United defender's expected call-up comes despite a lack of action in club football.

Left-back Shaw has played just twice in 2017 - the 4-0 win over Wigan and 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.

He has been publicly criticised by both Jose Mourinho and predecessor Louis van Gaal.

England travel to Germany for a friendly on March 22 before facing Lithaunia in a World Cup qualifier four days later at Wembley.

And with Wayne Rooney absent, Gary Cahill is reportedly set to be handed the captain's armband.
