Howson beats Gulliver 8-4
No shame in defeat for Golden Girl Gulliver, but her wait for a World Seniors win continues.
Double trouble for both players as Howson misses a host of darts for the match.
But Howson finds the double 1 to secure an impressive win.
8-4 might flatter the defending champ, but he's through to the quarter-finals.
Howson 7-4 Gulliver
Dart of the match from Howson, who lands an outrageous 124 with the bullseye.
Gulliver doesn't deserve to lose this one but there's nothing you can do about that.
Howson just one leg away...
Howson 6-4 Gulliver
The run had to end eventually.
And in classic fashion, we've had three come along at once.
Howson has three darts for the leg, but misses double 4 and double 2.
Gulliver takes advantage and she's not out of this yet.
Howson 6-3 Gulliver
Signs that the wheels might be coming off for Gulliver, as she falls apart when miles ahead in the leg.
Howson is back on that double 16 - no bother.
An incredible 9 legs now without a missed double.
Howson 5-3 Gulliver
Through eight legs, we hadn't had a single miss on a finishing double. Incredible stuff.
Gulliver keeps finding her trebles - sadly for her, too many in the 1 and 5.
Howson is now in his groove. Double 16, game shot. The tide has turned.
Howson 4-3 Gulliver
The break probably came at the right time for Howson.
And we have our first break of throw in the match.
What a checkout - 110 for the leg from Howson, some of the finishing in this opener has been brilliant.
Howson 3-3 Gulliver
Messy darts from Howson, who looks rattled by Gulliver rolling back the years.
Trina needs a 136 checkout, but strays into the 1. So close.
Tops for Howson..and it's game shot. We're back level.
Howson 2-3 Gulliver
This is Gulliver's 9th game on the Seniors Tour - she's yet to win, but is threatening an upset here.
A stunning 160 checkout - treble 20, treble 20, tops. Easy as you like.
We're into a quick break and the Golden Girl is threatening a shock over the reigning champ.
Howson 2-2 Gulliver
Almost a magic 157 checkout from Gulliver, but she just misses the treble 19.
It proves costly, with Howson finding that magic double 20 for the leg.
Some brilliant play from both players through four legs.
Howson 1-2 Gulliver
Both players in a nice early groove, with 10-time PDC champ Gulliver regularly finding her trebles.
102 for the leg...but a miss on the bull from Golden Girl.
No matter. 66 left, a masterclass in finishing on her next visit. She sets up tops, finding the double 20 to take the leg.
Howson 1-1 Gulliver
Better from the reigning champion of champions, as Howson lands the first 180 of the match.
He's on a 76 checkout, needing just one trip to make sure. It's tops again and we're level.

The Power pulls out
Darts legend Phil Taylor was forced to withdraw from the World Seniors Darts Tour Matchplay on medical grounds.
The Power opted to withdraw from competing after taking medical advice.
The 16-time World Champion and 16-time World Matchplay Champion has been experiencing discomfort in recent weeks following a hip operation.
On the withdrawal, Taylor said: "Naturally, I am gutted to be missing out on playing in such a big event like the WSDT Seniors World Matchplay.
"I have been leaving no stone unturned in preparation for York.
"But after having hip replacement surgery, I have been feeling pain in the last few weeks, and the consultants have advised against playing this weekend.
"I withdrew from playing in a weekend exhibition in Whitby to give myself every chance for the Matchplay, but I have to be sensible, and take the advice I have been given on board.
"Rest assured, I will be doing everything to be ready and fully fit for the WSDT Seniors World Masters in Sunderland in November."
