GARETH SOUTHGATE is the favourite to become the next Manchester United manager, according to a supercomputer.
Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure in his role following a disastrous start to the season.
United have picked up just two wins in six Premier League games and have twice been beaten 3-0 at home, most recently to Tottenham.
SunSport understands Ten Hag will remain in charge for this week's crucial fixtures against Porto and Aston Villa.
But if results do not approve he could be given the axe, with a number of candidates lined up.
Southgate was linked in the summer when Ten Hag's position was considered by United bosses, but he was still England manager at the time.

However if Ten Hag is sacked Southgate is now the most likely to take over, according to a supercomputer run by BoyleSports, who offer the latest .
The former Three Lions boss has been given a 34.8 per cent chance of getting the job, which makes him a narrow favourite over Ruud van Nistelrooy.
He is currently assistant under Ten Hag and some fans think he could be destined for the role, having played for the club between 2001 and 2006.
Van Nistelrooy is a close second favourite to succeed Ten Hag at 33.3 per cent.

The remaining options rank some way behind Southgate and Van Nistelrooy, with Thomas Tuchel next on 13.3 per cent.
The supercomputer thinks it unlikely a manager outside of that trio will be appointed, giving the likes of Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, Graham Potter, Michael Carrick and Zinedine Zidane less than a five per cent chance of getting the job.
