KIERAN TRIPPIER has left fans and commentators baffled after making a bizarre boot tweak mid-game.
The 34-year-old was in action for Newcastle as they faced Manchester City at St James' Park this afternoon.
Trippier started in a pair of bright orange Adidas boots - but he then gestured to the dugout for a change.
At the next break in play, with just 16 minutes on the clock, the England right-back came to the sidelines to switch boots.
But he bizarrely only changed the one on his right foot to a Puma purple and pink boot.
Trippier then played the rest of the half in an odd pair that left TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher confused.

Another added: "Is Trippier wearing one Puma boot and one Adidas boot?????"
A third commented: "Crazy fit."

Trippier then changed his left boot to match his right's purple and pink boot at half-time.
The strange look has seen him be compared to ex-Tottenham star Benoit Assou-Ekotto because he used to play in different boots.
The eccentric former defender, who used to travel around London on the tube during his Prem days, said: "I bought two pairs – one blue and one white.
"After three days, one of them split; and because I don’t have a sponsor, I wasn’t going to throw away a shoe that is brand new.
“So I took one of the other colour and played like that.”
