Jordan Chiles’ Olympic bronze drama takes dramatic twist with secret new doc footage ‘proving’ she should get medal
A NEW video has shown that Jordan Chiles should receive her bronze medal.
The 23-year-old American gymnast was stripped of her bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"CAS stripped Chiles's bronze medal based on its conclusion that Chiles's coach was four seconds late in making a verbal inquiry to correct Chiles's score, but the new evidence clearly shows that the inquiry was made on time.
Shortly after the competition, Chiles was bumped to bronze after United States coach Cecile Landi successfully argued that her score was under-marked.
Barbosu appeared to have the third-place finish locked up after Chiles finished her routine.
Chiles' initial fifth-place score was 13.666 but was added .1 points after the inquiry.
Barbosu would come in fourth place, leaving her devastated at the event.
Chiles received the medal on the podium alongside US teammate Simone Biles, who received the silver, and Brazil's Rebecca Andrada, who claimed the gold.
However, the Romanians disputed the decision and the CAS then concluded that the review was submitted four seconds past the one-minute deadline.
And the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has told Chiles that she must give back her bronze medal, with Barbosu being given the medal instead.
Chiles' latest filing comes after a September 16 filing where she decided to appeal CAS' decision to the Federal Super Court of Switzerland.
The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) believes that Chiles should be given the honor she deserves.
"Due to the egregious errors and oversight by CAS in handling the case and overlooking clear evidence of Jordan's rightful Bronze win, we are determined to ensure she receives the recognition she deserves. Our commitment to truth in this matter remains steadfast," the USOPC said to CNN last week.
