Boom or bust for Anthony Joshua?

That question will be answered this weekend as AJ bids to become a three-time world champion against Daniel Dubois in front of 96,000 spectators at Wembley.

Joshua has completely rebuilt himself after successive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, and has finally worked his way back to a mandatory challenger position.

The 34-year-old beat Jermaine Franklin via unanimous points decision, and followed that with three-consecutive stoppage victories against Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

If he beats Dubois he will join an exclusive club of greats including Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klitschko and Evander Holyfield in becoming a three-time heavyweight world champion.

AJ is heavily favoured by the bookmakers to win this contest at odds-on 1/3, and that's perhaps got something to do with experience.

Joshua has fought in front of big crowds and carried the weight of expectation on more than a few occasions, and Saturday's British post-war record attendance of 96,000 fans shouldn't concern him.

The same cannot be said of Dubois who, despite fighting Usyk in front of 40,000 fans in Poland last year, has less experience of these stellar nights.

The Greenwich-born fighter has lost twice in his career to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk but looked mightily impressive when winning the vacant IBF interim heavyweight title against Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia when Usyk vacated it.

We expect Anthony Joshua to win this contest, although odds of 1/3 don't look very appealing. Instead, we're backing AJ to get the job done in the latter rounds.

Dubois, 27, has proven he can mix it with top-level fighters with a big punch at his disposal, but AJ possesses more power than both Joe Joyce or Oleksandr Usyk - who've both already stopped Dubois in the 10th and 9th Rounds respectively.
