English Open Snooker 2024 LIVE RESULTS: Trump, Allen and Selby suffer SHOCK exits in epic quarter-final stage

THE English Open 2024 is rolling on at speed - with the final taking place on Sunday!

Judd Trump, Mark Allen and Mark Selby suffered shock exits in what turned out to be a thrilling quarter-final stage - this means that Chris Wakelin is the sole Englishman left in the tournament to bring the trophy home.

    China's Wu Yize, a shock 5-3 winner over World No 1 Judd Trump, takes on Mark Selby's surprise conqueror Ishpreet Singh Chadha from around 1pm.

    And the evening semi-final six hours later is between Englishman Chris Wakelin, who stunned Mark Allen, and Neil Robertson.

    Aussie ace Robertson is now odds-on with bookies to go on and win the tournament.

    Ishpreet Singh Chadha saw is mum in tears after his incredible win over Mark Selby - and gave her all the credit for his triumph.

    Singh, 28, was India's top-ranked gamer for two years - before re-focusing on snooker after Covid struck.

    After his 5-4 defeat of Selby, mum Bobby was seen in the Brentwood audience crying and with her hands clasped together in front of her head.

    Singh said: : "She's been a pillar of strength throughout. I can't do anything without her."

  • Ishpreet choked up by victory

    Emotional Ishpreet Chadha Singh seemed stunned to complete his 5-4 defeat of Mark Selby.

    The Indian ace led 3-0 and 4-1 before Selby fought back and led 63-29 in the decider - only to clear the table brilliantly.

    Asked about how it felt to triumph, he could only mutter: "I'm just happy to win.. That's it!"

    Selby missed a glaring pot that could have clinched the final frame.

    And Singh said: "I didn't expect him to miss the red and I took my chance as well as I could!"

    Ishpreet Singh produced an incredible victory - in terms of rankings AND execution - for the latest huge upset of this tournament.

    He potted a stupendous red - when taking it on looked a risk too far.

    And he was then quite fortunate to see a bold attempt a potting the red leave the balls not too inviting.

    He once more trickled the cue ball down successfully.

    Mark Selby has just pulled off a skilful red to the middle pocket to get on the black.

    And that could be the decisive moment of this final frame.

    He then pouched a bold brown - only to miss the final red and settle for a 37 break.

    Ishpreet Singh now has a chance of a dramatic recovery - albeit still 63-13 down so far.

    Mark Selby returned to the table with a glint in his eye - knowing the balls were well placed.

    And he was on 26 with a gettable red.

    But he missed it - leaving Ishpreet Singh with an opening of his own.

    But her Indian ace then failed with a power shot - again handing Selby a golden opportunity.

    Selby pounced to pot a testing red - and could be on his way once more.

    He leads 27-8 in the decider.

    Mark Selby instantly potted it - thought it was far from a sitter.

    Now the Englishman is down to the colours - but once more with the balls trickily placed.

    Potting the yellow and green put Selby 80-65 up - and he's still going.

    Poor Mark Selby lost a string of fouls trying to get out of a snooker.

    And in the end he also left a red on.

    However, Singh could only compile a break of 10 - leaving Selby 72-65 up.

    A poor shot from Mark Selby gave Ishpreet Singh a chance he took to land a nasty snooker.

    Selby was 72-43 up.

    And he appeared to change his mind a couple of times over how to get out of the cue ball being tucked behind the blue over the middle pocket.

    In the end he trickled the ball off the cushion - but it just missed the red.

    Singh asked him to have another go - with the white re-spotted in the same place.
