FREDDIE FLINTOFF has landed a major new role in English cricket.
The retired cricketer has been named the head coach of the England Lions team's programme for the upcoming year.
Flintoff, 46, was considered for the head coach of the national white-ball team after Matthew Mott stepped down.
However, he missed out on that job after Test head coach Brendan McCullum was picked ahead of him.
The Kiwi has revolutionised the Test side with captain Ben Stokes since his appointment in 2022.
After accepting the role, Flintoff said: "I’m incredibly excited to take on this role with the England Lions.
