NEWCASTLE have reportedly made a shock £35million bid for Anthony Elanga.
The Magpies have cash in the bank after being unable to seal a £70m deal for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
Elanga, 22, has impressed at the City Ground since his arrival from Manchester United.
The Swedish international helped the club stay in the Premier League last season with five goals in 37 appearances last season.
Newcastle were keen on signing the winger earlier in the window but could not complete a deal due to PSR restrictions.
Sky Sports are now claiming that the Toon are back in for Elanga with a big offer.

The report states that Newcastle have offered at least £35m to Forest for the winger.
It is added that Forest are not keen on a sale of Elanga and would be looking for more money if they were.
Should a deal go through, though, Manchester United would benefit due to a sell-on clause inserted in his contract when he left Old Trafford in 2023.
Any sale of Elanga would see Forest make a decent profit on the player that the signed for just £15m last summer.
