OLI McBURNIE incredibly outperformed Kylian Mbappe as Las Palmas held Real Madrid to a shock 1-1 draw on Thursday night.

Mbappe, 25, scored on his Los Blancos debut in the Uefa Super Cup, but has failed to hit the back of the net in his first three LaLiga matches.

The latest of those came away at Las Palmas - a side playing ex-Swansea and Sheffield United McBurnie up front.

The Scotland international, 28, set up Alberto Moleiro for the opening goal of the game, playing a through ball to the Spaniard before he beat two men and fired into the bottom corner.

By contrast, Mbappe failed to register a first goal or assist for Real Madrid as their equaliser came thanks to a second-half Vinicius penalty.

And fans on social media could not believe McBurnie had upstaged France captain Mbappe.

McBurnie joined Las Palmas in the summer after being released by Sheffield United.

rated his performance as a 7.28, while Mbappe could only manage a 6.99.

But Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti insisted prior to the draw with Las Palmas that there are no concerns around Mbappe.

He said: "His last goal was on August 14th. It has only been two weeks since, that is no reason to worry. Neither we are not worried as a club, nor him.

"He is very happy here, delighted, sure he wants to score in the next game. So does Vinicius, who has yet to score this season and I don't see him worried either.

"[Mbappe] is progressing really well, I see him doing better every day, excited, motivated, training well. He is very humble. I think his adaptation is going really well."

Real Madrid have made a slow start, drawing twice and winning once from their opening three games.

It means they trail rivals Barcelona by four points already.
