Bellew said: "David, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. He picked me, it was genuine, I wanted to really beat him more than anything in the world.

"He deserves so much respect, who wants to see it again?

"Who wants to go back to Goodison Park."

Haye added: “Tony is a great fighter, he has a heart of a lion, I did not expect him to have the chin he had.

"I gave it my best shot, it wasn’t good enough.

"Bellew was the better fighter tonight, he had bigger balls tonight, he had a bigger heart.

"I’ve never been in a fight like that before, I’d love to do it again, if he wants it, he’s the man, he beat me fair and square."
