Four Irish League players involved in road crash ahead of NIFL clash

FOUR Irish League soccer players were involved in a car crash this morning.
The players were en route to the game when the incident happened.
The quartet were heading to the NIFL clash between Dungannon Swifts and Ballymena Saturday.
All four players are from the Dungannon team were in a four-vehicle crash in Co Down while on their way to a match on Saturday afternoon.
They were named as goalkeeper Declan Dunne, defender Daniel Wallace, midfielder James Knowles and winger Thomas Maguire.
Wallace just joined the club earlier this week from Glenavon.
Dungannon Swifts tried but failed to get today’s fixture called-off ahead of the 3pm kick-off at Stangmore Park.
The club released a statement earlier this afternoon as they wished their absent players a speedy recovery.
It read: “Unfortunately four of our first team squad have been involved in a RTC on the way to our fixture against Ballymena United today.
"We will give a further update later after the game.

In a statement received by PA News agency, Police said they received a report of a four-vehicle collision on Lisburn Road, Moira.
The incident apparently happened just before 12.50pm on Saturday.
It is not believed that anyone was seriously injured in the collision
Police are appealing to anyone in the area at the time, who may have dash cam or other video footage which could help their inquires, to call 101 quoting reference 608 24/08/24.
Swifts' manager Rodney McAree confirmed after the game that he'd spoke to all players involved in the crash.

He also stated on the clubs' that none were seriously injured.
He said: "We no that none of them are seriously injured - a few scrapes and a few bruises. Possibly a bit of whiplash.
"We''ll monitor it, see how they are, and go from there. Thankfully they are ok."

He added: “We have a video call from Decky and we could see the damage done – there was a lot of damage.
“It’s very fortunate because when we saw the cars we knew it was a heavy enough collision.”
