Nketiah's international future
STEVE McCLAREN wants Eddie Nketiah to swap international sides and play for Jamaica.
New Reggae Boyz chief McClaren is keen on the striker to join his team, despite playing for England’s Under-21s.
Nketiah, 25, could start for Jamaica after being overlooked by the Three Lions - and be led out by ex-England boss McClaren, who was in charge of the 1966 World Cup winners between 2006 and 2007.
But Crystal Palace are convinced their Deadline Day signing can boost his England chances this term.
Nketiah, whose solitary England cap came in October 2023 in a 1-0 win over Australia, joined the Eagles for £25million plus £5m in add-ons on Friday.
It brought to an end a relationship with Arsenal that has lasted more than a decade.
Everton target Luton ace
EVERTON boss Sean Dyche will make Luton striker Elijah Adebayo his top target in January.
The Goodison chief expects to lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin at some stage and his spies are focusing on the 26-year-old Hatters hitman as his replacement.
Dyche would have bid for Adebayo last week if efforts to move DCL had come to anything, but he will be back.
Championship side Luton are open to a sale in the £15m-£20million range.
Everton would have enough to attempt a move if they sell England striker Calvert-Lewin, 27, who is out of contract next summer and stalling over a new deal.
Crystal Palace are also checking out Adebayo just in case Jean-Philippe Mateta attracts a buyer.
Varane blow
RAPHAEL VARANE has been removed from Como's Serie A squad after suffering an injury on his debut.
Varane, 31, joined the Italian outfit following a turbulent three-year stint with United that ended once his contract expired.
The centre-back made his debut three weeks ago as he started for Cesc Fabregas' side during the first round of the Coppa Italia at Sampdoria.
However, the ex-France international only lasted 23 minutes as he picked up a knee injury and had to be substituted.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Varane's knock has led to Fabregas removing him from his squad for the season.
The Frenchman suffered a raft of unfortunate injuries during his time with United.
Sancho statement
Chelsea have released a statement regarding the signing of Jadon Sancho.
It reads: "Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho has joined Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the season.
"The 24-year-old England international sealed his move late on transfer deadline day, with the announcement coming on Saturday evening.
"Sancho returned to United earlier this summer following a half-season loan spell at former club Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
"He will now link up with Enzo Maresca’s Blues squad at Stamford Bridge.
"We wish Jadon good luck for the campaign to come."
Brainy footballer to return
FORMER Chelsea youngster Tudor Mendel-Idowu who is best-known for being one of the smartest people in England is set for a return to the Premier League.
The midfielder, 19, has an incredibly impressive pedigree in academia having been made a King's Scholar at Eton College at the age of 13 after attending the prestigious boarding school Ludgrove School.
King's Scholars are, as Mendel-Idowu explained, "the top fourteen brightest students in the UK, if not the world, admitted once per year at the age of 13".
His admission came after he finished second in the 2014 edition of the Channel 4 show "Child Genius".
Meanwhile on the pitch, in 2022 he was blossoming in Chelsea's U18s side, regularly contributing goals and assists.
But last year he left for Belgian side Anderlecht after rejecting a new deal from the Blues.
Now, though, he is poised to return to England - who he has represented at U15 and U17 level.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has been agreed for him to join Ipswich.
Rekik given a free
Omar Rekik has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed the 22-year-old is now a free agent.
Arsenal made the move on transfer deadline day.
It's unsure what the defender's plans are.
Saka's thoughts on Sterling transfer
Bukayo Saka has shared his thoughts on Arsenal getting Raheem Sterling in before transfer deadline day.
"Great signing for us. I’m happy he’s here, I’ve said hello to him," he told TNT Sport.
"I am really happy to have him here. I am sure he will do amazing for us."
Sancho deal
According to Fabrizio Romano, despite Sancho not being announced yet he is a Chelsea player.
The transfer expert wrote on X: "No issues, no problems with Jadon Sancho deal despite not being announced yet.
"Sancho, 100% new Chelsea player."
Fans fume at Pedro
ARSENAL fans fumed at referee Chris Kavanagh after Brighton forward Joao Pedro escaped a yellow card for kicking the ball away, before Declan Rice received a second booking for an identical offence.
Mikel Arteta's men were reduced to 10 men four minutes into the second half when they led 1-0 at the Emirates, before Brighton equalised to earn a 1-1 draw.
Rice, who received his first caution shortly before the break for a late challenge on Joel Veltman, was then involved in a second altercation with the Dutch defender that led to his dismissal.
After Brighton had been awarded a free-kick, Rice nudged the ball out of play as Veltman tried to take it quickly.
Veltman then swiped through Rice, but referee Kavanagh spotted the Arsenal midfielder's crafty act and was sent off.
However, the official failed to act on another moment of dissent in the first half.

Lucky Newcastle
NEWCASTLE were facing a 10-point deduction just ONE DAY before the sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson saved them from breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Eddie Howe's men were aware at the end of the 2023/24 season they needed to offload players to avoid punishment.
he severity of the situation became clearer during the campaign as Everton and Nottingham Forest received points deductions for similar breaches.
Newcastle were tasked with raising funds by the June 30 deadline.
But according to The Athletic, they were £60MILLION short just 24 hours before.
It is understood on the morning of June 29 there were talks within the club about a 10-point deduction.
One Newcastle insider described the situation as "horrific" and "the worst period I've ever experienced in football".
Man Utd star could leave
Christian Eriksen could still depart Old Trafford despite Man Utd turning down a late bid from Real Betis.
That is because Belgian side Anderlecht are interested and have six more days until their transfer window closes.
His former side Ajax are also interested but a loan move to Anderlecht looks more likely.
Pellistri explains Man Utd exit
Facundo Pellistri has revealed he wanted to leave Man Utd prior to reporting back for the start of pre-season training.
He told ESPN Deportes: "I had made the decision a little before I returned to training.
"I knew that the ideal thing for my future and at my age was to play, and that I could play in Manchester, but it would be more complicated.
"So, I wasn't going to have the amount of minutes that I want in a year, so we went out to look for different alternatives.
"All the options I considered were from Europe. I didn't receive any proposal from South America, it wasn't that I ruled out that option of returning to South American football."
Liverpool star likes new signing
Virgil van Dijk has shared his thought on new Liverpool signing Federico Chiesa.
He told The Independent: “I think in terms of the season being so long with so many games we definitely could use any quality addition that will be needed and to have Chiesa coming in is a very good signing, especially for the deal that has been done."
Osimhen axed by Napoli
Victor Osimhen has been axed from the squad and stripped of his signature shirt number after his failed move to Chelsea.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Napoli's new manager Antonio Conte has wielded the axe and removed Osimhen from his senior squad.
Conte also took his No9 shirt away and gave it to his replacement in attack Romelu Lukaku, who reunited with the Italian tactician following his move from Chelsea.
Now Osimhen is facing the possibility of being sidelined with the reserves until January.
Nelson to return to Arsenal
Reiss Nelson joined Emile Smith Rowe at Fulham in a late transfer deadline day loan move.
But he is set to return to The Emirates next year as the deal does not include an option or obligation to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Free transfer XI worth £78m
The transfer window may have closed last night but clubs are still able to sign free agents.
And there is a plethora of talent available, including the likes of Anthony Martial, Sergio Ramos and Dele Alli.
Pundit shocked at Sancho decision
Former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson thinks Jadon Sancho has made a big mistake swapping Man Utd for Chelsea on deadline day.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s a surprising move for me when I look at the players already at Chelsea in that wide area.
“Jadon Sancho is a good player, let’s not forget that. He was a superstar at Borussia Dortmund, he went to United and it didn’t work out for him.
“But to go to Chelsea, why will it be any different there? Where’s he going to play? I honestly thought he needed to go somewhere where he was going to play.
“I think he’s the kind of player that wants to be playing week in, week out. He’s going to be in and out like you won’t believe at Chelsea.
“Chelsea is an absolutely crazy place right now. You’re bringing in Sancho for [Raheem] Sterling. It blows my mind.”
Everton confirm signing from Chelsea
Chelsea striker Armando Broja completed a last-minute move to Everton on loan which just beat the transfer deadline.
Broja was in extended talks with Ipswich Town over the last fortnight of the transfer window, but talks hit issues over an Achilles injury the Albania international was carrying. Even up until 30 minutes before Friday's 11 p.m deadline, Broja was still in talks to join Kieran McKenna's side, only for talks to collapse in the final throes of the window.
Everton submitted a deal sheet for Broja - a process which grants them an extra two hours to complete the transfer - and on Saturday morning at 1.55 a.m. Everton confirmed they had secured the signing of Broja on loan.
Chelsea will pay Broja's wages until he is fit to play for Everton, a source confirmed to ESPN. The deal has an option to make the move permanent in the summer for £30 million ($39.3m).
Sancho wipes away United connections
Jadon Sancho has wasted little time in removing his now past connections to Man Utd.
Within hours of completing a loan move to Chelsea the winger has deleted all of his Instagram posts containing the Red Devils.
Toney earns blockbuster payday
Ivan Toney has become one of the highest-paid Englishman in the world following his transfer to Al-Ahli.
Toney has penned a three-year deal with the Middle East outfit, where he will reportedly earn a whopping £327,000-a-week.
The contract means he is now the third highest paid Englishman in world football behind Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.

Sancho loan includes strange clause
Jadon Sancho could return to Man Utd thanks to an unusual clause in his loan with an obligation to buy move.
The winger made a deadline day switch to Chelsea who could have to pay United £25m to make the loan permanent.
However they will be able to opt out of a permanent deal if they do not finish in the top 14 in the Premier League, according to The Telegraph.
Edu on Sterling deal
"To be here on the last day of the transfer window, to get someone like Raheem Sterling, which I believe will be someone very important for the squad, who is going to give a lot to the team, it's a pleasure," the Arsenal chief said.
"To be fair we never planned really to sign him when we started the transfer window, just to be very transparent. For different reasons. But we always say to everyone that you have to be prepared for every single scenario.
"It makes a lot of sense to have someone like him because I'm sure he is going to add a lot in the squad.
"He has experience, he understands more than anyone the league, he's played in the Champions League many times.
"He won the Premier League a few times as well, so I think he can add a lot to our squad and I feel really happy to see someone like him in our squad."
