Major broadcasting change with ITV to join BBC showing huge football tournament

FANS will get to watch the Women's Euro 2025 on two channels next year after a major broadcasting change.

A deal has been agreed between the broadcasters to split the highly-anticipated tournament across their platforms.

The BBC showed every single game of the last edition in 2022 as England stormed to a famous home victory.

But, this time, ITV will broadcast half of the Euro 2025 matches, in an agreement similar to that reached for last year’s Women’s World Cup.

The tournament, which takes place in Switzerland, kicks off on July 2 next year.

And no pundits or commentators have been confirmed as of yet.

But both ITV and the BBC will show the final which is on July 27.

It means fans will be spoiled for choice when it comes to watching all 16 teams in action.

An incredible 27.4million UK viewers tuned in across Euro 2022.

And 17m watched England beat Germany 2-1 in extra time at Wembley to win the coveted trophy.

Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said: “Following the success of the Women’s World Cup last year, which drew big audiences to ITV across the tournament, we are looking forward to showcasing next year’s UEFA Women’s EURO. 

“Viewers who follow ITV’s coverage of England Women can now expect to see live, free to air action and analysis across our platforms next summer.”

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, added: “BBC Sport has been a long-time supporter of the women’s game and the BBC is committed to bringing the nation together for the biggest sporting moments. 

“We’re excited that we can bring another major tournament to audiences next summer across the BBC.” 

Just eight other teams have so far booked their place in the tournament alongside host Switzerland.

England, Spain and France have made it through.

They will be joined by Germany, Italy and Holland.

While Denmark and Iceland are also in the mix, leaving a further seven spots up for grabs.
