TEAM GB has done us all proud.
Across the board, it has been a brilliant year for our sporting stars.
My highlights were watching the same Team GB quartet retain their 4x200m title, which has never been done before in the pool.
And brave Adam Peaty only losing out on making history by two- hundredths of a second — even though he had Covid in the men’s 100m breaststroke.
It was incredible seeing the Stade de France come to a complete standstill as everyone watched on their mobile phones while Frenchman Leon Marchand won his fourth gold in the pool!
Emotion has been on show every single day, and we’ve been privileged to share the journey with all the athletes — the highs and the lows — while inspiring future generations.

Every four years so many amazing sportsmen and women we don’t see on TV normally get to shine.
I’d love it if across the board we could try to maintain more diverse coverage.
It’s important we offer choice to inspire our children to be active and excited to try sport.
Most of these athletes were helped with Lottery funding and every single person who buys a ticket has helped support them to train in pursuit of their dreams.
I know directly from the athletes just how grateful they are.
