DANIEL WIFFEN has become a swimming superstar in Paris - but it's not the Irishman's first brush with fame.

Ireland's golden boy previously appeared in blockbuster TV show Game of Thrones with his brother before he won two Olympic gongs.

BBC presenter Clare Balding surprised viewers by revealing the acting background of the Paris Games' 800m freestyle winner.

Wiffen and his twin Nathan appeared in the brutal "Red Wedding" scene during popular fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

The 23-year-old followed up his gold from last week with bronze in the 1500m freestyle on Sunday.

The "Red Wedding" episonde was a defining moment in HBO's fictional feast of fearsome characters - due to a stomach-churning plot twist.

Or for a "pretty cool" experience - from Wiffen's perspective.

The Leeds-born star told : "I didn't really know about Game of Thrones when I was younger.

"My parents wouldn't let me watch it, but my sister got a really good role in Game of Thrones.

"She was one of the Frey daughters. So she came in and did her bit, and then we came in for the Red Wedding, in the background, which was pretty cool."

Speaking to the , Wiffen said of the shocking scene: "I was loving every minute of it.

"Jon Snow (played by Kit Harrington) was there, all the main actors and they were all so nice as well, they were really nice.”

The Wiffen twins also featured as Henry Bowyer in The Frankenstein Chronicles on Netflix and "a couple of British Children’s TV shows".

Daniel added: “Acting’s big for twins when they’re younger.”

But he will never have to act as a big hero - because after his Paris 2024 efforts it's no fiction.
