Chelsea join Manchester United in race for Real Madrid’s Casemiro, the new Claude Makelele

CHELSEA have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, according to reports in Spain.
The Brazilian, who has been dubbed the new 'Claude Makelele', has become a key member of Zinedine Zidane's team.
However, Casemiro is said to be frustrated that his current contract does not reflect his elevated status at the La Liga club.
The former Sao Paulo man broke into Real's first XI in the second half of last season, anchoring the midfield as they won an 11th Champions League/European Cup.
Zidane has called the 25-year-old Brazilian "fundamental", praising him for "doing the dirty work" that keeps his team balanced.
That strong work ethic would fit the demands of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who is monitoring the player's situation, according to Spanish publication .

A move to Stamford Bridge would see the Blues adding to an already formidable midfield featuring N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.
However, United boss Jose Mourninho is also reported to be keen on Casemiro, who he coached at Real for half a season before leaving for Chelsea in 2013.
