Shaun Murphy speaks
Shaun Murphy discussed his big victory over Mark Selby.
In a long match like that, the best of 19 frames, it shows how important winning that last frame of the first session was. I had no momentum. Mark really should have been 7-2 up. Instead it was 6-3, it gave me a lifetime, a stepping stone.
I am so proud of how I played in the evening and it was great to play in front of a great audience. The Chinese fans love the snooker. It was rewarding to put on a great show for everyone.
It’s the old cliche, it’s never over until it’s over. I am a lot of things but I am not a quitter. I have never given up in my life and I wasn’t prepared to do that here.
I kept pushing, I had luck at the right time. I scored well. I cannot believe this. This is what you play for, it’s what we dreamt of as a boy, to play in big matches and big tournaments like this.
I’m looking forward to watching Ronnie and Judd slog it out until the wee small hours of the morning while I can rest.
