But he had a tumultuous experience in charge despite reaching the Asian Champions League final, losing 6-3 on aggregate to Al Ain.

Kewell, 45, won just 15 of his 33 games in charge and departs with Yokohama 12th in the league.

Kewell came under a lot of pressure from fans last month as he and his team were booed following a defeat to Tokyo Verdy.

While the players fronted up to fans, seemingly willing to take the boos, former winger Kewell had to be led away.

Shocking footage shows him becoming irate as he tried to push away his member of staff so he could continue looking at the Yokohama fans.

Kewell was reported to have lost the dressing room prior to his sacking and he alienated club chiefs with his behaviour towards match officials, with frequent outbursts on the touchline.
