Man City fans gutted as ‘next Sergio Aguero regen’ joins Ipswich in permanent transfer worth staggering £20million
MANCHESTER CITY fans were left heartbroken after club prospect Liam Delap's move to Ipswich.
Delap, 21, signed a five-year contract with the Tractor Boys following a deal that could be worth up to £20million.
The striker, who is the son of Premier League hero Rory Delap, was highly rated at the Etihad especially after a successful loan stint at Hull last season.
And City fans were left with a bitter-sweet taste as although they are happy the academy graduate will get a chance at top level they still hoped he could take the next step as part of Pep Guardiola's squad.
Some even hoped the ex-Stoke loanee, who had been with the Citizens since 2019, would follow in the footsteps of club legend Sergio Aguero.
One fan tweeted: "He was our Next Aguero Regen. Gutted he couldn’t get in the first team."

Delap amassed a total of eight goals and two assists in 32 appearances with Hull.
And the England Under-21 international is looking to do even better at Ipswich as he revealed he was convinced to move to Portman Road by manager Kieran McKenna's "exciting football".
Delap said: "The manager here likes to play exciting football. It's quick and intense and I am looking forward to that.
"I want to bring goals and assists and I'll work as hard as I can to help the team."
