The 6ft 3in youngster came through at Sporting Lisbon before he went out on loan to Bundesliga side Augsburg in 2023.

He played 13 games for the German side and then signed for Basel at the beginning of last season.

Just six first-team appearances and one goal came in his first campaign in Switzerland, but that appears to have attracted interest from Chelsea.

Along with his blossoming club career, he has earned five caps for Portugal's U21s having made his debut last year.

Blues supporters are excited about the prospect of signing Veiga - whose highlights include hitting the post from the halfway line.
