RONNIE O'SULLIVAN is eyeing more history at the 2024 Shanghai Masters - and has safely made it into the quarter-finals.

The Rocket will lead a strong field of snooker's biggest names at the Shanghai Grand Stage in China.

He heads into the tournament as the defending champion after beating Luca Brecel 11-9 in the 2023 final.

O'Sullivan's victory last year was his fourth in a row and fifth overall at the event.

When is the Shanghai Masters?

  • The Shanghai Masters gets underway on July 15.
  • The tournament will run until the final on July 21.
  • Shanghai Grand Stage, with a capacity of 13,000, will host the event.

What is the Shanghai Masters format?

The main draw of the Shanghai Masters will see eight seeded players, including O'Sullivan, enter in the second round.

They will be joined by eight winners from the first round, which features four wildcards.

From the first round to the quarter-finals, matches will be the best of 11 frames.

The semi-final then moves to a best of 19 frames before the finalists compete across 21 frames to crown the winner.

How to watch the Shanghai Masters?

The Shanghai Masters will be broadcast live on Eurosport and Discovery+.

Live coverage from the first round onwards will be shown daily.
