Returning from getting a round in, however, he found himself in a spot of bother.

As he clutched a four-pack, which appeared to contain two beers and a pair of Pimm's, the fan took a wrong turn.

In footage captured by TV cameras, he ended up walking out in front of the Centre Court scoreboard.

When he realised his error he wore a look of confusion, before turning back the way he came.

After his gaffe was posted on social media by the BBC, the fan received his moment in the spotlight.

Responding to the clip, one fan wrote: "He values those precious beer cups more than anything."

While a second joked: "His boss watching this."
