Roy Keane slams ‘silly’ Sir Alex Ferguson tradition he held with senior Man Utd stars

ROY KEANE was left unimpressed with Sir Alex Ferguson's "silly" tradition of sipping tea with senior Manchester United stars.

The Republic of Ireland legend, 52, won 19 trophies during his 12 years as a player under the iconic manager at Old Trafford.

But Fergie and Keane's successful tenure together came to an abrupt and explosive end when the Irishman's contract was terminated in 2005.

After recounting his up-and-down relationship with Fergie, Arsenal striker Ian Wright asked Keane if the pair could ever make up over a cup of tea.

Keane said: “No, I don't see that. I think it's a silly thing to be thinking about. No, I think that's not gonna happen."

It is will documented that many senior United players would often go upstairs and enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit with Ferguson.

To which Keane replied: “I get my anger is obviously a long time ago but the worst anger you can have is the justified anger where you feel – again I feel – I hadn’t done anything wrong.

";Listen, I’m a big boy, I can deal with it. It was all the way it was donem it wasn’t nice – that’s the bit.

“But I almost have to remind people, I couldn’t go to anybody, I left October, November – came back from a broken foot which I broke at Anfield, couldn’t go to another team."

Keane insists that he still believes he did "nothing wrong" in the final fallout with Fergie and will not make amends with the legendary manager.

But Keane did find time to praise Fergie's balanced team talks in which "he almost always got it right."

He said: "Through all those team talks – hundreds of team talks – to kind of get it right, mostly, I liked that.

"I liked the fact that he’s just got that balance right regarding being tough, or being fair with people."
