WWE superstar Brock Lesnar retires from MMA following hefty drug ban and fine
Former UFC champ will no longer compete in mixed martial arts and will stick to competing on Monday Night Raw
FORMER UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has walked away from MMA.
The 39-year-old has retired from the octagan after his last appearance as the co-main event at UFC 200.
Lesnar, who is now a star on WWE, won his last UFC appearance via a unanimous decision over Mark Hunt.
But his victory has since been overturned, after failing drugs tests - which led to heavy punishment from The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
The RAW superstar tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolite, 4-hydroxyclomiphene, following an out-of-competition urine test.
This led to a one-year ban from USADA and a £200,000 fine and one-year suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
And now following these punishments - according to MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi, Lesnar has informed the UFC he will not return to the franchise.
Despite his retirement, Lesnar would not be able to compete in an octagon anway until he served his ban.
