TEAM GB have been stripped of a medal they won 124 YEARS AGO.

That's after new information came to light about the man who won the silver medal at the Paris 1900 Olympics.

Lloyd Hildebrand finished second for Britain in the men's 25km cycling race in Paris in 1900.

But the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have discovered Hildebrand was actually French.

The IOC conducted research into that year's Paris Olympics and discovered his actual nationality.

They said Hildebrand "was born and brought up in France, and competed for a French club before and after Paris 1900".

The medal has now been reassigned to France.

The IOC's executive board agreed to the switch on Thursday.

It said: "Based on this new-found information, the executive board decided to apply the same policy as in previous cases."

Unlike today, National Olympic Committees (NOCs) were not involved in the process of selecting athletes for the 1900 Games.
