BRIGHTON have reportedly been granted a work permit for Fabian Hurzeler.

The American-born German is the club's top target to become the new manager of the team.

Hurzeler, 31, will arrive at the Amez Stadium as Roberto De Zerbi's replacement.

The Italian coach left the South Coast at the end of the season.

He would become the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history.

Attilio Lombardo holds the current record having taken charge at 32, while Ryan Mason held a caretaker role for Tottenham at 28.

have claimed that the Seagulls have been successful in their application for Hurzeler to get a work permit.

The report also states that the club are now in talks with Bundesliga outfit FC St Pauli to find an agreement to hire the manager.

Hurzeler joined the German club as an assistant in December 2022.

He was quickly made interim and then permanent head coach having steered them away from relegation to the third tier.

Last season he continued to raise his stock as he led the Hamburg-based side out of the Bundesliga 2.

The club won the division with 69 points from their 34 games, one point ahead of Holstein Kiel.

Hurzeler signed a new contract with St Pauli in March but the lure of the Premier League could be too much.

Brighton's top target had been Kieran McKenna but he committed his future to Ipswich Town.

The club was also linked with a stunning move to rehire Graham Potter.
