Romeo Beckham learns Brentford transfer fate after Bees failed to name David’s son in retained or released list

Thomas Frank has had his say on Romeo Beckham's football ability

BRENTFORD have offered Romeo Beckham a new deal to stay with their B team.

Beckham - son of former England captain David - started training with Brentford B in January last year before joining on a six-month loan and then agreeing a one-year contract.

That deal expires this summer but the 21-year-old was not named among their published released or retained list.

Talks are no ongoing to extend his stay in West London, though no deal has been agreed at this stage.

Beckham joined the Bees from his dad's Major League Soccer team, Inter Miami where he played in the youth team having also trained with the Arsenal academy in the past.

The midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the first team, but boss Thomas Frank has previously made it clear that he feels Beckham is a good player.

Speaking last year, he said: "Romeo is a very good player, of course he has a name that is pretty worldwide, and big.

"For Romeo he is himself, he of course has a big name. You can't compare.

"He is here for a reason, because we think he is a good player, and we are pleased he could make the loan deal.

"We are pleased to see him doing well, pleased to see the performance he had in the last game and when you have players, either permanent or on loan, it is for a reason."
