  • Shaw on tournament conditions

It is forecast to be a high of 37 degrees this week in the Middle East and that makes walking outside extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Jayson Shaw, nicknamed Eagle Eye, explained: “It’s really humid, you’re sweating all the time. Everywhere is super cold inside.

“It happens all the time, the moisture gets into the table and the cushions start playing differently.

“We have noticed in the last few hours that the table has bounced and reacted a little bit more. We all understand it and will try to adjust to the conditions.

“Inside the arena, I’ve said it feels a little bit cold and people have said: ‘You’re from Scotland, how are you cold?’

“I guess living in the States for the last 12 years changes you.

“When I won the Hanoi Open in Vietnam, there was no AC in the venue. It was like 33 degrees in the building. That was brutal. We have played in places hotter than this.”

  • Shaw thing

Jayson Shaw would love to parade the World Pool Championship trophy at his beloved Celtic Park.

He told SunSport: “I’m a winner. I have come here to win. I’m one of the favourites. The more pressure, the better it gets.

“If I can win the world championship, it would be amazing to go back to my hometown. I am sure I could get to go to Celtic Park and parade the trophy around there. That would be really cool.

“I have been a Celtic supporter since I was a little boy. I had season tickets when I lived in Scotland.

“I saw when John Higgins won the world championship in snooker, he got to go to Celtic Park.

“It would be an amazing feeling. To do it this week with my wife and two kids with me would be so special.

“My wife is American. I have tried to take my kids to a couple of football games but it has always been Celtic v Rangers on the agenda – not a game to take them to!

“Maybe Celtic v Motherwell, something that won’t be crazy.”
