MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly given all their non-playing staff just one week to decide if they want to resign from their jobs.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are looking to cut costs after completing their £1.3billion minority takeover at Old Trafford.

United have described it as "voluntary resignation", but those affected see it more as voluntary redundancy.

The Red Devils' current staff count stands at over 1,000 people, and the offer is seen as a way for workers to either get on board with Ineos' new philosophy or have the freedom to walk away now.

Ratcliffe and Ineos are reviewing all financial areas at United, including business and operational costs, after the club recorded losses of £42million.

The billionaire has already implemented several major changes, including telling staff they can no longer work from home.

Ratcliffe was left unimpressed when he analysed the state of tidiness at Old Trafford and Carrington this month.

And staff were also made to pay £20 towards travel costs for Saturday’s FA Cup final win against Man City.

Previously, those behind the scenes were given free tickets, free transport and a slap-up meal whenever United.

The morale-boosting treat was a reward to thank them for their hard work.

But although staff received complimentary tickets for this year’s triumph, this time there was no free food and no free travel either.

United are also bracing themselves for potentially being AXED from next season’s Europa League.

Ineos also own French side Nice, who qualified for the competition after finishing fifth in Ligue 1.

And Uefa have told Ineos they must prove they do not have a “decisive influence” over two clubs in the same competition.

If they fail to do so, United will be bumped down to the Conference League in a huge blow for Ratcliffe.
