KIKKULI (8.12 Sandown, nap)

Could be a superstar. Trainer Harry Charlton has made a flying start since taking over from dad Roger and this son of Kingman was impressive when winning at Newmarket on comeback. He was still green but improved as the race went on to land a cosy success. His November maiden second has worked out well too as he finished ahead of Dante winner Economics who could end up going off favourite for the Derby.

ZIPSTER (6.07 Sandown, nb)

Looked a nice prospect when scoring at Yarmouth on handicap debut. He was well on top despite missing the break and the booking of William Buick takes the eye. This race is no tougher and there should be a lot more to come.

MAGICAL HILL (3.58 Market Rasen, treble)

My selection jumped like Constitution Hill when scoring by six lengths at Kelso last time and can progress tackling his first handicap.

Don't forget, it's the big Brigadier Gerard card at Sandown on Thursday evening with the big race taking place at 7.37pm.

I think CERTAIN LAD looks ideal for this test after finding 1m4f on the stretching side at Newbury last time out. That was still an excellent effort behind the admirable Hamish in the John Porter Stakes coming back from a six-month break.

He had never tackled that long a trip before and was bang in contention until the closing stages.

He showed his liking for this distance when winning two hot handicaps at the end of last season.

It’s fair to say this isn’t the strongest Group 3 you will see this season with jolly Royal Rhyme returning from seven months off.

Karl Burke’s hope looks the main danger after finishing fifth in the Champion Stakes at Ascot. That was an excellent run but he’s not scored beyond Listed level and looks a pretty skinny price.
