It all looked so good at the start for Lowry but he struggled to keep up with the pace-setters.

Story unfolds on final green
Both DeChambeau and Hovland have putts for birdie.
You feel with the pair one shot behind Schauffele, at least one of them has to sink it to put the pressure on.
DeChambeau duly obliges and moves into the joint lead on twenty under par after a round of 64.
Hovland cannot follow suit as the ball trails off to the left of the hole.
Scot with strong finish to round

Chasing pack up against it
It is hard to see Schauffele dropping any shots at all.

That leaves only Hovland and DeChambeau with the chance to catch him but with them both three holes ahead of him on the course, they need to set a target for him.
Xander remains in the groove
Xander Schauffele has carded another birdie to move into the outright lead once again.
The American is currently twenty under par.
He is one shot clear of Viktor Hovland.
Viktor needing to set bar
With Hovland three holes ahead of Schauffele on the course, he will have a nervous wait in the clubhouse.
He needs to try and post a score to challenge the American and then watch on to see if he can hold his nerve.
Hovland needs to pile the pressure on the man who has yet to win a major.
American bounces back immediately
After carding a bogey, Xander Schauffele birdies the next hole to move to nineteen under par with Viktor Hovland.
The pair now lead the PGA Championship.
This is some great golf we are seeing and it looks set to go to the wire.

McIlroy ends disappointing tournament
Rory McIlroy has just birdied the eighteenth hole to finish the championship on twelve under par.
There have been moments of brilliance but all too often there is another hole where things go wrong.
