Man Utd transfer news LIVE: United ‘HIJACK West Ham Mazraoui deal’, Jarrad Branthwaite BOOST, Xavi Simons ‘interest’

MANCHESTER UNITED have hijacked West Ham's move for Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui, according to reports.

It was reported that the defender was closing in on a move to the Hammers, but now the deal has collapsed, and United are said to be in 'advanced talks'.

In other news, the Red Devils have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The 22-year-old is intending not to sign a new deal at Goodison Park unless they can match the £160,000-a-week being offered by the Red Devils, according to reports.

Elsewhere, the Red Devils are interested in a move for PSG star Xavi Simons, according to reports.

Simons, 21, notched a goal and two assists at Euro 2024.

Before that he impressed on loan for Leipzig last season.

Simons has reportedly made it clear to PSG he sees his future elsewhere - at least for next season.

Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff is said to have held talks with the French champions.

But it's believed PSG are only interested in a loan exit.

  • Toney 'prefers Spurs over Arsenal'

Ivan Toney would prefer joining Tottenham to Arsenal or Chelsea.

So say talkSPORT over the Brentford striker, who was previously linked to Manchester United.

Toney, 28, played a bit-part role in England's Euro 2024 run to the final.

The Bees insist he won't come cheap but it's reckoned his valuation has come down from more than £70million to £55m.

Plus the likes of Andre Onana, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have also joined Ten Hag's travelling squad.

But recent signing Joshua Zirkzee is not a part of the team as he continues to take his summer break following Euro 2024.

The same goes for Altay Bayindir, Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Facundo Pellistri and Luke Shaw who are also on leave following their international appearances.

Tyrell Malacia is absent from the squad as he continues his rehabilitation from injury under the guidance of medical staff at Carrington. Lisandro Martinez and Garnacho, who won the Copa America with Argentina in the US, are enjoying time with their families.

  • Red Devils change tour squad plans

Manchester United have tweaked their pre-season tour squad after Kobbie Mainoo suffered an ankle injury in America last year.

United return to the US to face Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Betis - but have reduced the amount of travelling to give players more rest.

The Red Devils suffered a string of major injuries last term.

This time United are spending two fewer nights away and will play six pre-season games, compared to eight last summer.

This includes the Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10, as well as travelling 1,622 fewer air miles.

  • New Rasmus number adds up to Zirkzee hint

Rasmus Hojlund has been given the Manchester United No9 shirt.

United unveiled Hojlund as No9 alongside the words: "Ready to lead the line."

The Red Devils also shared a snap of a smiling Hojlund holding up his new shirt with the caption: "Let's cook."

Man United axed a number of staff from their tour party to the USA.

New part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is making 250 people redundant at the club in a cost-cutting exercise.

Those at risk who were due to fly out to Los Angeles yesterday were told last week to stay at home.

A total of 125 United staff, including the football department, are going on tour — down on last year.

And it is considerably less than the 200 they once took when Louis van Gaal was boss between 2014-16.

  • Maguire tipped for Chelsea

Man Utd legend Dwight Yorke reckons Harry Maguire should look to join rivals Chelsea this summer.

He told : “Harry Maguire could sit out the last year of his contract and know he’s going to play at some point due to injuries, but United really need to be ruthless and get rid of him.

"Maguire has shown that he is very capable of playing at the highest level still and elite clubs like Chelsea, who are trying to rebuild, might take a chance on Maguire.

“With Thiago Silva leaving Chelsea, there's a gap there for an experienced player like Maguire to move into.”

  • Fulham readying McTominay offer

Galatasaray are also said to be admirers of McTominay.

Manchester United are also rumoured to have an interest in Simons.

The former Man Utd man told Stick to Football: “Ole [Gunnar Solskjær] was tough, for me and Roy Keane, when he was manager of [Manchester] United.

"People at the end abused him, but me probably more than Roy, the idea of going against Ole, that’s never going to happen. I can say, ‘He’s under pressure, the team aren’t playing well’ – we said all those things – but the idea of going a step further which says, ‘He should lose his job’, ‘He should be sacked’ – never.

"That’s what people want but I would never go into that. I’ve never once [did that]."
