Darts star Peter Wright hints he’s set to QUIT major tournament after miserable couple of years
PETER WRIGHT has revealed that he will only do one more Premier League season.
The double world champ has had a miserable couple of years stuck rock bottom of the table.
Wright, 54, dismissed any talk that this could be his farewell season in the tournament but admitted that he’d still only do one more year if he earns his place.
He exclusively told SunSport: “If I win a major and they pick me next year that will probably be my last Premier League. I’ll try my hardest to go out with a win.
“I’m getting older and all the travelling is tough. I’d concentrate on all the other tournaments. Let these other youngsters like Joe Cullen and Chris Dobey get their chance.
“Is it the end? No. I believe I can win a major this year, definitely.

“Obviously we’ve got some fantastic players at the moment, the two Lukes and Gary Anderson.”
‘Snakebite’ has had an incredible run in the league of ELEVEN consecutive years.
But it’s not been a lucky tournament for him, the closest he’s come to victory is missing seven match darts to beat Michael van Gerwen in the final in 2017.
He added: “I’ve got a few months yet to win majors. I’ll get myself ready for that. It’s been a disaster this year in the Premier League for me.

“I can’t explain the reasoning of it. It’s just one of those things.
“I’m not moaning about it but maybe it’s the format, being at the venue for so long getting ready for it.”
Wright also admits that 17-year-old Luke Littler in the tournament - 37 years his junior - has shook up the entire establishment of the sport.
He said: “Luke Littler has given everyone a kick up the backside. I think it was getting a bit sort of stale until Luke Humphries also decided to go nuts.”
If Wright doesn’t win a place for 2025 it would also bring to an end of 14 successive years of a Scottish player being in the tournament.
Gary Anderson was the first Scot to earn a permanent place in the Premier League in 2011 - winning on his debut and in 2015.
Robert Thornton also appeared in three seasons.
