Man Utd vs Burnley preview

Kings of chaos Manchester United are back in action against a somewhat resurgent Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils survived a scare midweek when twice coming from behind to beat lowly Sheffield United thanks largely to captain Bruno Fernandes.

The result ended United's four-match winless streak in the Premier League and leaves them sixth in the division - three points ahead of Newcastle.

Erik ten Hag's side have an FA Cup final against neighbours Manchester City on the horizon, but they will need to win the majority of their final five fixtures to ensure European qualification.

And that could be easier said than done given the chaotic nature of their performances.

There have been a total of 27 goals scored in United's last five matches. In that period, they've conceded and scored at least two and are averaging 4.67 total goals in their last nine outings.

As for Burnley, they know a thing or two about goals having not kept a clean sheet in any of their past 16 league matches.

They have, however, hit their best form of the campaign having lost just ONE of their last seven top-flight fixtures (W2, D4) and have given themselves a glimmer of hope of survival.

Man Utd vs Burnley betting tips

Goal crazy

I've mentioned how crazy Manchester United games have been lately, and it feels highly unlikely that Erik ten Hag will have remedied that since Wednesday night.

The Red Devils will again fight fire with fire, and enter the contest with a mindset of 'we'll just score more than you' rather than keep things tight.

That should serve them well against a Burnley side who've not kept a clean sheet in any of their past 16 league matches, while their 69 goals conceded this term is their second most in a top-flight campaign.

Vincent Kompany's side have nothing to lose and should let the handbrake off against a very vulnerable United defence. They've also scored 2+ goals in three of their last four away games.

  • Over 4.5 goals scored at 2/1 with William Hill -

Captain fantastic

Bruno Fernandes has now scored seven goals and collected two assists in Manchester United's past five games.

He's in red-hot form and manager Erik ten Hag has praised the Portuguese for his leadership and attitude.

He's netted 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 44 appearances this season, and I expect that tally to grow against Burnley in a wide-open contest.

  • Bruno Fernandes to score anytime at 17/10 with William Hill -

Penalty

I think there's a good chance that Bruno Fernandes' goal will come from the penalty spot.

The Red Devils have received seven spot-kicks this season, while only two sides have conceded more than Burnley's six in 34 league contests.

Referee John Brooks has awarded six penalties in the 20 top-flight games he's officiated this season. One of those was in United's favour against Everton earlier this year.

  • Manchester United to score a penalty at 18/5 with William Hill -
