Chelsea ratings: Enzo Fernandez is no comparison to Rice while Nicolas Jackson always fumbles at the final moment

CHELSEA will be hoping Cole Palmer's absence is a short one based off tonight's evidence.

And the away trip turned out to be a nightmare as the Gunners went four points clear at the top of the table thanks to a 5-0 thrashing.

Leandro Trossard set the home side away after just four minutes.

But a flurry of second half goals saw Ben White and former Blues star Kai Havertz both score braces.

It's a result that is far from ideal for Chelsea's hopes of moving into the top six, with it leaving them three points behind Newcastle who are level with Manchester United.

Exposed by the two-pronged attack from Rice and Trossard so early, leading to the opener. A tough night for a young kid against rampant Arsenal.

Shaky start then rallied only to succumb in the second half. Although it was midfield where Chelsea really lost the plot.

Can pick a nice pass but maybe is still feeling the effects of recent injury/illness. No comparison to opposite number Declan Rice. Way below par.

Has trod a thin line between robust defensive play and overstepping the mark of late. Unimpressive and uninspiring again.

Skipper again and always full of energy. Came close to tucking away an equaliser then inadvertently laid it on for Ben White to score. 5

Emerging as a forceful young player but doesn’t get as many starts as he should. In for sick Cole Palmer and did well on the right flank as the best outfield man for The Blues.

Nicolas Jackson - 4

Seems to do the hard but then fumbles at the final moment. How he didn’t head Chelsea level only he can explain.

Comes to life in fits and starts. Capable of great things but also silly misplaced passes and lapses in concentration.

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has been tearing his hair out watching Chelsea's stars fight over penalties again and again. Here are all their spot kick lowlights

1. CHELSEA 2-2 ARSENAL (23rd October, 2023)
   
   GOAL Raheem Sterling immediately picks up the ball to take Chelsea's spot kick before Cole Palmer approaches. Enzo Fernandez intervenes to give the ball to Palmer, who sends David Raya the wrong way to score.
   
2. CHELSEA 4 LEICESTER CITY 2 (17th March, 2024)
   
   MISS Raheem Sterling wins a penalty and this time is handed the ball by Palmer. However, he fires it down the middle and sees his kick comfortably saved. Leicester later recover to 2-2 from 2-0 down and Sterling is booed every time he touches the ball by a section of the home crowd.
   
3. CHELSEA 4 MANCHESTER UNITED 3 (4th April, 2024)
   
   GOAL Noni Madueke makes an audacious attempt to take the ball off Palmer after winning a 98th minute penalty with the Blues 3-2 down but is pulled away by Trevoh Chalobah. Palmer sends Andre Onana the wrong way before scoring a winner two minutes later.
   
4. CHELSEA 6 EVERTON 0 (15th April, 2024)
   
   GOAL Madueke picks up the ball immediately after Chelsea are awarded a penalty at 4-0 up, but a furious Nicolas Jackson rushes in wanting to take the kick and shoves the winger. Captain Conor Gallagher has to intervene to give the ball to Palmer, who scores. Pochettino blasts his team's behaviour as "like being at school".
