Going into their FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry, Harry Maguire is Man Utd's only fit centre-back.

And bemoaning the injury crisis he has had to deal with, Ten Hag claimed he has only had his strongest starting XI out once since taking over.

He said: "I have never had my favourite team on the pitch in 18 months.

"Only one time against Man City at home last season.

"In all other games there has been a injury aspect.”

United won the game 2-1 via late strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Fans have been left baffled by Ten Hag's comments as many are convinced that day was not his best XI.

Shaw started at centre-back, forgotten man Tyrell Malacia was at left-back, Christian Eriksen and the now sold Fred were in the midfield, with Anthony Martial leading the line.
