<p>HUSBAND AND WIFE TAKE ON AINTREE. AN AMATEUR female jockey is hoping to bag a fairytale victory for her family at the Grand National - after she’s married to the trainer and her horse is owned by her mother-in-law. Gina Andrews, 32, will ride Latenightpass this Saturday at the world’s most famous steeplechase - watched by over 800million people worldwide. Her husband Tom Ellis, 39, who described the prospect of winning as a “dream”, even had to take out a professional trainers’ licence just for the opportunity to train the horse. Affectionately called Bob at home, the 11-year-old was bred by his mum Pippa from a mare Tom bought on a night out. Gina said she will fulfil a lifetime ambition when she lines up in the £1million race. She said: “The Grand National was never the plan. It has always been a dream of mine to ride in the National but being an amateur it had never been that realistic. I’m trying to take each day as it comes and just wait for the day.” The pair married in 2015 and live in a cottage on his family’s farm near Marton in Warwickshire. Husband Tom said: “It’s starting to sink in just what a big deal this is. I’ll never have another one that my mum bred and my wife rides, not in that race anyway. It’s in the lap of the gods.” Tom - a five-time champion point-to-point trainer - retired from riding in 2015 after breaking his leg. He joked: “We’d have been divorced by now if I’d kept riding.”

Her husband Tom Ellis, 39, has taken out a full licence so he can train the horse.

The nag, rated 25-1 with bookies, was bred by his mum Pippa from a mare she bought during a night out with dad Tony.

Tom, who previously focused on point-to-point races, said: “I’ll never have another one that my mum bred and my wife rides, not in that race anyway.

“To see your wife live out a childhood dream on a horse your mum bred, it’s amazing. Words can’t describe it.”

Gina said: “It has always been a dream of mine to ride in the National but being an amateur it had never been that realistic.

“I’m trying to take each day as it comes and just wait for the day. It’s a fantastic story.”

She and Tom wed in 2015 and live near Marton, Warks.

Pippa said: “I’ve been watching since I was a little girl, so to be actually going with a horse that we’ve bred, that my son trains, my daughter-in-law rides, it’s bonkers. It’s mad.”
