Basketball gear from legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant set to fetch millions at auction

BIDDERS are jumping through hoops to net basketball gear from legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

A pair of sneakers worn by Chicago Bulls great Jordan in the 1996 NBA finals is expected to fetch more than £300,000 in an online auction.

The black and red Air Jordan 11s are signed on the soles.

They were given to two Seattle Sonics ballboys after a game, with the Bulls going on to win the championship.

And the late Kobe Bryant’s LA Lakers jersey from a 2009 finals game — where he scored a record 40 points — has a guide price of £2million.

They are up for auction as part of Sotheby’s Sports Week in New York.

A Sotheby’s said: "Sotheby’s is proud to present Kobe Bryant’s game worn jersey from Game 1 of the 2009 NBA Finals, the greatest NBA Finals performance of Kobe’s career.”

Muhammad Ali’s signed shorts from his 1975 “Thrilla in Manila” fight with Joe Frazier could fetch £5million.

Bids -- including the latest for $3.8 million -- have been rolling in since late March for the Everlast-brand shorts - which are signed by the late boxing great.

Sotheby’s Sports Week began yesterday and runs until April 12.
