Darts star Gerwyn Price returns to his first career as he shares dressing room pic and admits he was ‘running on fumes’

The Welshman previously competed at a high level in two other sports

GERWYN PRICE laced up his rugby boots again yesterday - ten years after he gave up the sport.

The darts star, 38, previously played as a hooker for Welsh Premier Division sides Neath and Cross Keys.

Price returned to rugby action to play in Martin Jones' testimonial.

He featured alongside a series of Welsh internationals including Rowland Phillips, Nathan Brew, Jonathan Spratt and Arwel Thomas.

The game saw a Martin Jones XV take on Neath Legends.

After the encounter, Price posted a selfie with a group of his team-mates to Instagram.

The Welshman wrote: "What a great night playing with a great bunch of lads… almost had a try aswell.

"Loved putting the boots back on but the engine was running on fumes."

In addition to union, Price also competed in rugby league with South Wales Scorpions and Blackwood Bulldogs - and was capped by amateur international rugby league side Wales Dragonhearts.

Jones, meanwhile, racked up 81 appearances for the Welsh All Blacks and played for both Cardiff Blues and the Celtic Warriors.

He was also inducted into the Neath Rugby Supporters’ Club Hall of Fame last month.

Price's day job in the Darts Premier League hasn't gone completely to plan so far this year.

The 2021 world champion is seventh in the table on seven points, only above Peter Wright.
