He would go on to play 480 times for Sir Alex Ferguson's side, winning a host of trophies including seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League.

He is widely regarded as one of Man Utd's best ever players and would be a hugely expensive asset in 2024's market.

And former team-mate Neville, 49, believes the ex-Ireland captain would be worth a similar amount to England man Rice - who joined Arsenal from West Ham for £105m last summer.

Speaking on sponsored by , Lionesses legend Jill Scott asked Keane: "How much do you think you'd be worth now?"

Arsenal icon Ian Wright joked he would be worth "£3.77m," before Keane attempted to move the subject on without answering.

But Neville then brought the topic back around, saying: "What was Declan Rice? £100 million. You’d be worth £100 million [today]."

As Keane sipped his drink, he casually responded: "Thought so."

The 18-year-old has been superb since establishing himself as a first-team regular in Erik ten Hag's side midway through this season.

And while some fans are already likening him to Paul Scholes, Keane believes he has more similarities to Nicky Butt.

Sir Alex Ferguson leaves Man Utd fans baffled as he becomes life member at European giants

He added: "I’d say that Kobbie Mainoo compares more to Nicky Butt than Paul Scholes, but that’s because Scholes played further forward when he first joined Manchester United.

"What makes these young players successful is their personalities and their temperament, so I would put Mainoo on par with Butt and Scholes in their first three months at the club.

"It’s all about how players settle into the first team and how they cope with the challenges, playing at Old Trafford, but from what I’ve seen, Mainoo looks great, but he’s got lots to learn in that position."
