‘Sometimes you can be too good’, say darts fans after rarely-seen blunder live on TV leaves commentators flummoxed

Embarrassed star explained what led to the rare moment

DARTS fans were left in disbelief when one star seemed to forget the rules while at the oche.

Scott Taylor unbelievably bust 180 during his Modus Super Series clash with Jimmy Henriks.

He walked away from the board with his head in his hands after realising his mistake

Taylor had 180 left in the fifth leg and when taking aim for the cork he put his focus on the treble 20 to knock off as many points as possible.

But, in a very rarely seen blunder, he landed all three of his darts inside the wire on the treble for a maximum 180 - causing him to go bust.

The usually impressive moment was instead the opposite as players are, of course, required to check out on either a double or the bullseye.

That meant all three of Taylor's darts were rendered pointless and his score remained at 180 for his next set of throws.

The commentators couldn't believe what they were seeing with one exclaiming: "Oh my! He's bust it! He's bust it! It's a 180 that means absolutely nothing. Too perfect."

While fans online were just as taken aback with many posting their reactions on social media.

One wrote: "Sometimes you can just be too good..."

While another added: "Didn't look like he even attempted to throw the last dart high.

Taylor later admitted that was exactly what had happened as he actually thought he still had 200 left on the scoreboard.

"I don't normally look at the score so I just thought I was on 200."

Ultimately it was a costly mistake as it meant Taylor was unable to recover in the leg and wound up losing the match 4-1 to Hendriks.
