Soccer Aid 2024 LIVE RESULT: England THRASH World XI to end their six-year wait for charity match win – latest reaction

SOCCER AID has concluded for another year - and what a thriller it was at Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea star Joe Cole put the Three Lions in front early on before Eden Hazard's stunning free-kick made it 1-1.

Alessandro Del Piero gave World XI the lead for the first time in the game after great work from Usain Bolt in the build-up.

Ellen White got the equaliser for England to make it 2-2 after superb feet from Cole in the build-up.

Minutes after the restart, Steven Bartlett's excellent finish put the Three Lions back in front before Jermaine Defoe doubled his side's lead for 4-2.

In the build-up to the Three Lions' fourth goal, Bolt suffered a nasty injury that required a stretcher.

Billy Wingrove converted a penalty for World XI to make it 5-3, but Theo Walcott's late lob secured England their first Soccer Aid win since 2018.

  • A touching Soccer Aid moment

Still half-time here, it's an extended one for this special occasion.

Tom Walker is on stage, famous for his song "Leave a Light On".

The sun is setting on a gorgeous Stamford Bridge evening in South West London.

    Beautiful, it really is.

  • Haz-had his moment

Eden Hazard opened the scoring for Soccer Aid in style, with a curling free-kick from the left-hand side of the penalty area into the bottom left corner past David James.

He has shown some bright sparks throughout the game, and that trademark Belgian Brilliance has certainly been on display.

What an event and what an occasion.

  • The most impressive so far

Danny Dyer has absolutely stolen the show here at Soccer Aid so far.

The ex-EastEnder had the hardest job of the night up against Eden Hazard, but has put in an absolute masterclass, just as Gary Cahill told us he would.

He has put in a number of crunching, but fair, tackles on the magisterial Belgian, and has handled him brilliantly.

It hasn't been perfect, he is Danny Dyer remember, as he let Alessandro Del Piero stroll through on goal to make it 2-1.

Sorry, can you just read that again?

2024, you have rocked my world.

  • HALF-TIME England 2-2 World XI

HT. Half-time here now as the referee calls the first half to a close after a great sliding tackle from Tom Grennan to deny Micheal Ward from getting on the end of an Eden Hazard backheel pass.

    WHAT A HALF OF FOOTBALL.

  • England 2-2 World XI

    41. Patrice Evra, who is working incredibly hard, is through here on the right-hand side.

He cuts in on his left foot...

But fires his effort high and wide.

  • England 2-2 World XI

    39. Alex Brooker enters the pitch to replace Sam Thompson, who passed a late fitness test in order to be ready for this match.

Brooker, who became the first disabled person to play in Soccer Aid last year, has got one hell of a touch on him.

World XI, you have been warned.

  • England 2-2 World XI

    36. Here comes Sir Mo Farah!

He elegantly runs onto the pitch and claps the fans.

If you saw our exclusive interview with him, you'd know he told us he would love to be an actor like Tom Hiddlestone, who he is now playing with.

    Sir, this is your Mo-ment.

  • England 2-2 World XI

    33. Jack Wilshere and Joe Cole are running the show for England right now.

Both are wearing the number 10 shirt and that only seems right at the moment.

Tommy Fury enters the pitch to Eye of The Tiger.

  • GOALLLLL! England 2-2 World XI

    JACK WILSHERE.

    Take. A. Bow.

He receives the ball on the right hand side and sets himself to shoot before a clever ball roll sends Petr Cech sprawling on the floor.

The keeper is helpless and he rolls the ball along the box for Ellen White to tap home.

    What a goal.

  • England 1-2 World XI

    27. Great chance for England as Tom Grennan's hard work pays off and he bursts through the defence.

He looks to be through on goal but HANG ON.

Martin Compston throws himself into the Line of Duty and stops what looked to be a certain goal!

  • England 1-2 World XI

    24. SO CLOSE!

World XI almost have a third as Patrice Evra storms into midfield to intercept before playing a perfect ball into the path of Usain Bolt.

He works it onto his left foot before firing it wide of the post.

  • England 1-2 World XI

    23. If you haven't already, scroll down to the post we made about Danny Dyer "having a bit" in our interview with Gary Cahill.

Hate to say we told you so...

  • England 1-2 World XI

    21. Danny Dyer is sick of this referee.

He puts in another class challenge on Eden Hazard which is called for a free-kick to World XI.

    Not sure about that ref...

  • GOALLLLLL! England 1-2 World XI

ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO MAKES IT TWO!

An absolutely brilliant dummy from Usain Bolt on Stuart Broad leaves him OUT of the game and he's certainly not able to catch him.

He plays the ball into the path of World Cup winner Del Piero who slots it into the top right corner.

  • England 1-1 World XI

    16. Tom Grennan chases down a Jack Grealish through ball, but Micheal Ward shows why he's the Top Boy and beats him to it.

  • GOALLLL! England 1-1 World XI

IT'S THAT MAN, EDEN HAZARD EQUALISES!

Danny Dyer brings down Usain Bolt on the edge of the box and World XI's number 10 steps up to take the free-kick.

He wraps the ball into the bottom left-hand corner with ease.

    He's home.

  • England 1-0 World XI

    12. Tom Grennan has just missed a sitter...

He does all the hard work after receiving the ball from Sam Thompson, and is through 1v1 against Petr Cech.

Cech from Czech makes himself big however, and Tom Grennan fires wide.

Such a shame he couldn't find what he was looking for there...

  • England 1-0 World XI

    10. Eden Hazard makes it look so easy as he does that signature half-turn chop which Chelsea fans saw so often.

The Belgian wizard could easily still play it seems.

He then puts Joe Cole on the floor with a dribble reminiscent of what he did to Francis Coquelin against Arsenal, before crossing into Usain Bolt.

    Surely this is his moment!
Bolt fluffs his lines and misses the ball entirely.

  • England 1-0 World XI

    8. Hate to day I told you so, but Danny Dyer has just put in a worldie of a tackle on Eden Hazard.

Won the ball fair and square too, what a player.

  • GOALLLLLLLL! England 1-0 World XI

    JOE COLE OPENS THE SCORING!

The free-kick is whipped in from a deep position, before being chested down by Joe Cole and half-volleyed past Petr Cech.

That is sensational from the ex-Chelsea winger.

    WOW.

    What a start.

  • England 0-0 World XI

    6. Tom Grennan goes down under a huge challenge from Emmett Scanlan.

Mauricio Pochettino claims he dived and tells him to get up with a laugh.

He does get up, but is then bought down once again and England have a free kick.

  • England 0-0 World XI

    4. A bit of showing off from Chelsea legend Petr Cech who does TWO Cruyff turns on England legend Ellen White before clipping a pass into Eden Hazard.

The Belgian turns Tom Grennan on a sixpence and drives into midfield.

  • Huge chance! England 0-0 World XI

    2. Twenty seconds in and England have got a HUGE chance with Tom Hiddlestone.

He is played through on goal by Sam Thompson, but blasts his shot over the bar.

    We've heard he's Lo-ki a good player as well...

  • KICK-OFF - England 0-0 World XI

    0. Here we go, the referee gets the match underway.

  • 2024 is wild

I've just watched a man fly, and Theo Baker is lining up in a team with Eden Hazard and Usain Bolt.

2024 you have rocked my world.
