    The runner-up wins £73k, with £32,5k for today's losing semi-finalists .

  • Trump says Page is on fire

Judd Trump is sure he faces a tough semi-final against Welsh outsider Jackson Page.

Trump beat Kyren Wilson 5-2 while world no 52 Page followed up victories over John Higgins and Mark Selby by beating English ace Elliot Slessor by the same scoreline.

That included a stylish break of 140.

Trump said: "It is nice to get a run here and I feel a lot more excited to play snooker than the last three or four seasons."

But he added: "I think Jackson has played brilliantly well, he's scored heavily.

"From what I've seen, him and Ding have been the players of the tournament.

"When you are young and playing well in this kind of scenario there is no better feeling. I'm the grumpy old man now trying to stop him."

  • Chinese fans gather in street to watch Ding

Home favourite Ding Junhui drew hundreds of fans to the streets of Yushan as he progressed to the semi-finals of the World Open.

Chinese snooker lovers watched on a big screen as Ding romped past Ronnie O'Sullivan's conqueror Hossein Vafaei 5-0

Breaks of 73, 74, 135 and 102 lit up his impressive form back home.

Ding now faces back-in-form Aussie Neil Robertson.

  • Rocket fool so costly

Ronnie O’Sullivan was sensationally dumped out of the World Open Hossein Vafaei in a thrilling contest that went right to the final frame.

The Rocket, 48, missed a golden chance to wrap things up after fluffing his lines on a relatively straightforward black.

There were just 27 points left in play, and O’Sullivan was 26 points ahead of his Iranian opponent who then capitalised on the gaffe by sweeping the table to clinch victory by the narrowest of margins.

On commentary, Dave Hendon said he couldn’t believe the how forcefully O’Sullivan played his fatal shot. “I can’t believe he played it at that speed,” he exclaimed, as gasps went up around the arena.

  • If I can't enjoy this, there's something wrong

Neil Robertson claims he's back to his best - in time for the type of match he dreams of.

The Aussie - World Open winner in 2010 - beat Barry Hawkins 5-2 to book a semi-final clash with home favourite Ding Junhui in Yunshan.

Roberton racked up breaks of 127 and 115, plus two 87s and a 79.

Meanwhile, Ding whitewashed Ronnie O'Sullivan's conqueror Hossein Vafaei 5-0.

Robertson needs victory to retain his top-16 ranking and said: "My game is absolutely back to where it should be now and that is really exciting heading into the back end of the season.

"It is a blockbuster match tomorrow. If you can't enjoy playing Ding in a semi-final in China then there's something wrong."

  • Winner Trump enjoying snooker again

Judd Trump says he's finally enjoying snooker again after the World Open defending champ reached the semi-finals.

The Englishman beat Kyren Wilson 5-2 to set up a clash with Welsh outsider Jackson Page in Yushan.

Trump told the World Snooker Tour: "It is nice to get a run here and I feel a lot more excited to play snooker than the last three or four seasons."

And he said of world No52 Page: "I think Jackson has played brilliantly well, he's scored heavily.

"From what I've seen, him and Ding (Junhui) have been the players of the tournament.

"When you are young and playing well in this kind of scenario there is no better feeling. I'm the grumpy old man now trying to stop him."

  • Call for rule change after controversial Wilson shot

Neal Foulds has called for a rule change after Kyren Wilson deliberately miscued a shot in his quarter-final defeat to Judd Trump this afternoon.

Wilson battled back from 2-0 to trail 2-1 and was battling to level the frame scores when he faced a tough shot.

The cue ball was near a red in the middle of the table, with the other reds scattered all over and the black ball covering one pocket.

Eventually, Wilson chose to miscue the white softly onto the red - leaving Trump with a similar, tricky shot.

Ex-player and Eurosport commentator Foulds joined in the debate over the shot by saying: "It's legal but I actually don't like it.

" I think they should ban the shot because it doesn't look right. You're not even playing it off the main part of the tip.

"But it is a legal shot so fair enough. Until it is outlawed, it will remain a legal way of avoiding the push shot."

  • Miscue shot 'should be banned'

Former snooker star Neal Foulds claimed that a deliberate miscue shot should be banned after Kyren Wilson used the method against Judd Trump.

He said on Eurosport commentary: "It's a legal shot but I actually don't like it.
