IAN WRIGHT has been hailed for highlighting Manchester City's Premier League charges on Monday Night Football.

The former England and Arsenal striker discussed the treble winners' 115 charges live on Sky Sports.

He appeared as a guest pundit before Chelsea's 3-2 win over Newcastle, with the rivalry between Liverpool and City a key discussion point.

Speaking during the show, Wright explained: "We can’t speak about City without speaking about the fact that there’s 115 charges around them because the one thing I would like more than anything else is for that to be gone from City.

"So that you can give the team and the manager the love that they deserve and the flowers they deserve.

"You speak about them and it’s like there’s an elephant in the room, you want to speak about them, with this rivalry, without saying ‘yeah, but this…’

"It’s not fair on the players, it’s not fair on the clubs. The sooner that’s gone, the better for them."

City were charged with 115 financial rule breaches by the Premier League in February 2023 but vehemently deny any wrongdoing.
