Feyenoord stars play rock, paper, scissors over who takes free-kick – and ‘genius’ move completely tricks goalkeeper

Fans loved the routine on social media

FEYENOORD'S Quilindschy Hartman and Santiago Gimenez tricked a goalkeeper by playing rock, paper, scissors for a free-kick.

The pair pulled off the trick during their side's Eredivisie win over Heracles on Sunday.

With Feyenoord leading 2-0, the hosts won a set-piece on the edge of the opposition box.

Both Hartman and Gimenez were amongst the players stood over the dead ball.

They could then be seen playing rock, paper, scissors, with Hartman walking away after losing the game.

It then appeared that the left-footed Gimenez would take the free-kick, with Igor Paixao also lining up on the opposite side of the ball.

However, to the surprise of the Heracles goalkeeper, Igor stepped up to rifle a low-driven strike into the bottom corner.

The opposition keeper was left motionless as Feyenoord added to their lead.

Fans were impressed by Hartman and Gimenez's quick thinking on social media, with one commenting: "Smart to think of that on the spot."

Another added: "I love this regardless of whether the goalkeeper was fooled or not."

A third supporter also wrote: "Genius from Feyenoord."

Meanwhile, one more said: "Taking the simple game to a whole new level."

The strike, which was Igor's seventh of the season, helped the Dutch giants to a 3-0 victory.

Arne Slot's side remain second in the Eredivisie after the win, 10 points behind unbeaten league leaders PSV.
