During the conversation, in association with , which also featured Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott, Solskjaer reflected on his time in the Old Trafford dugout.

Referencing the inconsistency that current boss Erik ten Hag is seeing from his side, Solskjaer said: "I’ve been there.

"It’s that consistency again – play well for a time then you don’t know what you’re going to get and that’s the worst thing for a manager.

"If you don’t know what you’re going to get from your team, it’s horrible.

"That’s why when you have a Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic – you have players who you know they’re going to give you seven, eight out of ten every time.

Fred, 31, left Man Utd for Fenerbahce last summer after five years at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian's final game for United came in last season's FA Cup final.

During the match he committed a foul on Kevin De Bruyne which led to Ilkay Gundogan's winner.

Appearing as a pundit for ITV at the time, Keane ranted: "Fred had Kevin De Bruyne where he wants him. De Bruyne has his back to goal and then Fred fouls him.

"It’s the height of stupidity. But we’ve seen that from him so many times over the years."

During his appearance on the show, Solskjaer also reminisced on Man Utd's decision to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo in 2021.

The Norwegian said: "When I was manager of Manchester United, I can’t remember too many problems from Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It was the game against Everton when he walked straight off the pitch after I brought him on as a substitute, but there were more problems with him after I had left the club.

“I had a good relationship with Cristiano and there’s loads of respect between us. I think he behaved really well in his disappointments when I was there.”
