Luke Litter LOSES semi-final after missing first EIGHT doubles as sensational Luke Humphries wins Premier League Darts

Littler has another huge match right around the corner

LUKE LITTLER'S hunt for a first Premier League success will have to wait even longer.

The teen sensation was dumped out of night six of the Premier League in Brighton after losing to Michael Smith 6-3 in the semi-final.

Littler fell into a 3-0 hole after missing his first EIGHT doubles of the match and ending the tie with an average of just 95.27.

Littler tried a late fight back, but was too far behind to secure himself a spot in the Premier League final for the second time this season.

Instead it was Smith who booked a spot in the final at The Brighton Centre where he faced Cool Hands Luke Humphries.

But Smith was unable to get the better of Humphries who continued his commendable run of form as world number one.

The 29-year-old put Smith to the sword in a -3 victory to cement his spot in second place in the Premier League standing behind Michael van Gerwen.

For Littler and his semi-final loss it was an unusual display as he looked shaky from the off - a vastly different performance to what he had shown in his quarter-final clash.

Littler breezed past friend and training partner Nathan Aspinall his quarters clash winding up the 6-3 victor.

The youngster won the first leg no problem before keeping his momentum to take the second leg off his mate too.

From that point on it started to look like the Luke Littler show as he hit his target on the cork shot after shot.

But a place in the final was too much for Littler who is still awaiting his first Premier League night victory.

The rising star did make the final on night two in Berlin, but ultimately fell short at the final hurdle in a 6-5 loss to Michael van Gerwen that evening.

The youngster will now have to swiftly turn his attention to the European Tour as he faces Portuguese thrower Jose de Sousa in the Tour's first event on Friday night.
